Difference Between USB Cable and USB-C Cable

Almost every computer device and equipment, even a significantly older version, have at least one USB port. It clearly means that USB cables have been with us for so long. As the technological advancement increases and the world undergoes multiple new versions of almost everything, UGREEN USB cables also enter the development phase and discover their more recent version, i.e., type-c cable or USB-C cable.

This USB-C cable soon became very popular and championed the race among other USB cables. But here, one question arises. Is the USB-C cable actually better than its standard version?

To clear this confusion and discover the answer, let’s dig into the differences between USB and USB-c cables.

1. The New Shape

Let’s first talk about the most prominent and visible difference, i.e., the shape of the UGREEN USB connector. The standard USB cable has a larger physical connector as compared to the current USB-c cables, while the USB-c cables are similar to the size of the micro-USB connector.

2. Easy Insertion

We are sure whenever you try to insert a USB connector, you flip it more than once, as standard USB cables are very confusing due to their different shape on every flip. But in UGREEN USB-c cables, this problem vanishes as the cable comes with the same body on both sides. So it is easier to use UGREEN USB-c cables than a standard USB cable.

3. Fast Charging

Who doesn’t want to charge their devices faster? The standard USB cable provides you with 2.5W of energy to charge your mobile. The UGREEN USB-c cables are faster than the standard ones as they provide 100W power, which is enough even to charge a laptop. Again, USB-c cables are the winner here.

4. Versatility

Previously, we needed to have more than one and different ports to connect our devices. For example, to connect an HDMI cable, we need to have a different port, and the headphones connector needs a different port. The same goes if we want to connect a VGA and Display. Even we needed a separate power port in order to charge our devices.

But with the development of UGREEN USB-c cables, things changed. Now we don’t need multiple ports to connect different devices and charge the device. The USB-c cables are versatile and support connectivity to HDMI, VGA, DisplayPort, Headphones, and even charging from a single port.

This feature of UGREEN USB-c cables also saves the physical space on the body of our devices as we don’t need to have multiple different ports now.

5. Data Transfer Rate

The previous versions of the USB cables transfer data slowly as compared to the UGREEN USB-c cables. Let’s see how. The older version of the USB, i.e., USB 1.0, transfers the data at 12Mbps, whereas the USB 2.0 transfers the data faster than the USB 1.0 with a speed of maximum 480Mbps.

This speed is much faster than the previous one, but this is not enough. USB 3.0 comes with the support of 5Gbps data transferral speed. But again, UGREEN cable wins, as they are introduced with a much faster rate of 10Gbps, which is enormous.

Final Verdict

As we have discussed above, the difference between USB cables and USB-c cables, you can clearly see who wins the race. Standard USB cables are not obsolete, people are still using them, and the devices still support them. But UGREEN USB-c cable is way more powerful and valuable than standard USB cables.
